Falls Lake State Recreation Area

Falls Lake State Recreation Area in Wake Forest provides a stunning natural backdrop for any kind of portrait. Every person and every photo shoot is different, but there is no substitute for a beautiful glowing lake and brilliant greenery in the background. New Light Road and Creedmor Road are two places around the park that I enjoy taking pictures around. It’s actually just a very short drive away from the city, and always proves to be a nice and peaceful escape from the noise and fast pace of urban Raleigh.

Many different varieties of plants and animals can be found throughout the park, and on a nice day, you can enjoy swimming, boating or camping on the water, and you can also hike along a stretch of the Mountains-to-Sea Trail.

The Falls Lake Project was completed in 1981 for the purpose of providing a source of water and controlling flooding in the Raleigh area. The lake itself is 12,000 acres and the park contains 26,000 acres of beautiful scenery to photograph and enjoy.
