The Historic City Market District - An Ideal Location for Portraits in Raleigh

The City Market is an ideal environment in the city of Raleigh for engagement and portrait photography as it provides many different kinds of backgrounds and textures, all which give a vintage-inspired feel. The wood and brick surfaces make for a wonderful environment for taking pictures.

The City Market Neighborhood was formed in Raleigh in 1914. At its center is its namesake, the City Market, which functioned like a farmer’s market for many years until it was leased and used as a furniture store in the 1950s. By 1980 the City Council approved it to be added to the National Register of Historic Places and it underwent a revitalization process.
